Initial Assessment of the notification of the Aminigboko Community vs SPDC/Shell

The Dutch NCP has accepted the notification of the Aminigboko Community regarding an alleged violation of the OECD Guidelines by the Shell Petroleum Development Company  of Nigeria Limited (SPDC) and Shell Headquarters (Shell HQ). 

The notification regards alleged violations of the first 8 chapters of the OECD Guidelines for a project executed  by SPDC on Aminigboko Community land such as establishing parallel leadership structures within the Aminigboko Community, oil spill damage and forceful entry of Aminigboko Community land. 

The NCP is of the opinion that the notification merits further consideration and has offered its good offices to both parties. The Aminigboko Community has accepted the NCPs offer, but SPDC/Shell HQ has not. The NCP will further examine the specific instance and publish its findings in the Final Statement.
